03 Apr 14. A different approach to the creative look today achieved by simply playing with the contrast, in this instance, the micro contrast. This will give us things like increased texture, depth in objects like clouds, and better detail in everything. Taken to the extreme it will give the image a very odd look, one that will be instantly recognized as appearing fake, but if done just right, it can either enhance the image such that it looks really nice or, as in the case for today, just a tiny bit edgy. The difference between these last two approaches is just one's perspective, as they vary only in the slightest degree. If you critically look at this image, it is just a bit too sharp overall, but that is the creative look I was desiring. Back it off just a wee bit and the creative edge is lost. You can also move yourself a couple / three feet away from the monitor and it will look very natural. Nikon D30s; 18 - 200; Aperture Priority; ISO 200; 1/640 sec @ f / 9.
