18 Nov 11. During these last 10 days or so the colors here in our general area have been the best we've seen since our return for the the fall of 2006. With the past couple days of strong winds, they are now primarily street coloring, but still nice. Predominantly strong reds this year, but the oranges and yellows have been exceedingly vibrant. The same was true for the couple of times I made it up into the mountains and, depending on where I was and where I was looking, there was an abundance of designs to photograph. This image was taken from the road side on the Eastern side of Highway 20 about two miles past the summit of Stevens Pass on Highway 2 at about the 3,500 foot level. The sun had just recently broken through the low lying clouds and was beaming of the hillside. All the reds had peaked and were no longer on the trees, but the yellows and oranges were in abundance, and the bare trees just added to the design. ISO 200; 1/200 sec @ f / 8.
