05 May 11. Well, the weather was as foretold, the tulips also, and the trip basically successful. We spent almost 3 hours in the Roozengaarde display area and I had ample opportunity to try out a new approach to my flower photography. Over a third of the time was spent answering questions for fellow photographers ranging from can you fix my camera to how do I do this or that, and even some tour guide answers for a couple visiting from Long Island who had just stumbled onto the grounds and were having difficulty believing what they were seeing. But I must admit it was kinda fun to be asked and to have been able to help all the folks I did. The only drawbacks to the day's shoot were the number of people I had to work around and that there was a bit of a breeze resulting in most of the tulips being less than perfectly still. All told however it was a very nice late afternoon / early evening outing. Although I shot roughly 500 frames, they comprise perhaps only 100 different images. Here is the first image I'll share from the shoot and I'll talk about how it was done tomorrow. ISO 200; 1/320 sec @ f / 10.
