09 Dec 11. While I didn't get any opportunity this year to capture the frost on the pumpkins, I did have opportunity of a couple of days, back to back, the weekend prior to Thanksgiving, to capture it on a number of other objects. Just down the road from where we are building there are a couple of dense patches of bracken fern, one on each side of the road directly across from one another leading me to think they may have been a singe patch prior to the road being put through. For the most part they are just more of the greenery on the side of the roadway, but with autumn they turn a golden brown and are quite hard not to notice. Add a nice coating of frost over the brown, making them look like they have been prepared for a desert for a special occasion, and they are an irresistible treat for any camera lens, or at least my camera believes such. As there was a lot of "noise" with all the competing plants, or portions thereof, I've done a bit of digital gardening in order to help the fern stand on its own, otherwise, this is basically straight out of the camera. ISO 400; 1/200 sec @ f / 7.1.
